The railway station makes Lairg the railhead for much of the far north-west of Scotland, but the station is 1 ½ miles from the village centre.

Transport and walking routes in the local area 

Durness bus service 806 to Scourie and Durness connects with the train departing for  Inverness at 10.38 and waits to connect with the 10.41 departure from Inverness, arriving Lairg 12.20.  The timetable can be found on the Durness Bus website

What to see and do 

Lairg is the location of the largest single-day sheep sale in Europe. These auctions take place in August and bring people from all over Scotland.

There is also the Ferrycroft Visitor Centre, which is an Information and Heritage Centre with a shop and toilets. There are games, displays and experiences for all ages. Admission is free.
